Stuti

Stuti means praising someone respectfully. It is a song or hymn in praise of God or other divine beings (Dev). The poet Kalidas stated, Stotram kasya na tushtaye, i.e. there is none in the world whom praise doesn't make happy. Stuti helps connect with that particular form of energy which it addresses. Purely introverted practices are difficult to sustain over long period, and stutis help in continuing the practice vocally. The stutis are also beneficial in the same way as mantras are. The vibrations produced by correct pronunciation of the words are equally effective, whether or not the speaker understands them. A stuti is a form of prayer and prayer is the most potent tool a person has to deal with whatever life brings. The Indian tradition has a rich variety of different forms of god representing different forms of positive energies. Stutis addressing these positive energies are created by the great sages, seers and tapasvis of different spiritual traditions thousands of years ago, handed down to recent by the sruti tradition (knowledge transmitted verbally from generation to generation).
