श्रीरामचंद्रस्तुतिः

ŚrīRāmacandrastutiḥ

The following hymn has been taken from the Aranyakanda of SriRamcharitamanas by Goswami Tulasidas ji. After having lived in Chitrakoot for some time, Sri Ram decided to move on. Before departing He paid a visit to the venerated Sage Atri and Sati Anusuiya. As Sri Ram reached his ashram, an elated Atri greeted Him with this hymn. It is said that those who chant this hymn regularly, with love and respect develop true devotion, and definitely attain Sri Hari.

नमामि भक्तवत्सलं कृपालु शील कोमलं
भजामि ते पदांबुजं अकामिनां स्वधामदं ।
निकाम श्याम सुंदरं भवाम्बुनाथ मंदरं
प्रफुल्ल कंज लोचनं मदादि दोष मोचनं ।।1।।

Namāmi bhaktavatsalam krͅpālu s̒īla komalam
Bhajāmi te padāmbujam akāminām svadhāmadam ।
Nikāma s̒yāma sundaram bhavāmbunātha mandaram
Prafulla kanja locanam madādi doṣa mocanam ।।1।।

I bow to you O Well-wisher of your devotees, full of kindness and of utmost soft nature! I worship the lotus-feet of you who grant your own place (Vaikunth) to the desireless Desireless, beautiful dark complexion, Mandrachal mountain in the worldly ocean (Puranic story of Sagar-Manthan), with eyes like blooming lotus, you liberate from arrogance etc vices

प्रलंब बाहु विक्रमं प्रभोऽप्रमेय वैभवं
निषंग चाप सायकं धरं त्रिलोक नायकं ।
दिनेश वंश मंडनं महेश चाप खंडनं
मुनींद्र संत रंजनं सुरारि वृंद भंजनं ।।2।।

Pralamba bāhu vikramam prabhoprameya vaibhavam
Niṣaṅga cāpa sāyakam dharam triloka nāyakam ।
Dines̒a vams̒a manͅdͅanam mahes̒a cāpa khanͅdͅanam
Munīndra santa rañjanam surāri vrͅnda bhañjanam ।।2।।

Lord with long and very strong arms, boundless splendor Wielding quiver, bow, arrow, master of the three worlds ornament of the Sun dynasty, breaker of Mahesha’s bow who makes hermits and saints happy, and slays enemies of gods.

मनोज वैरि वंदितं अजादि देव सेवितं
विशुद्ध बोध विग्रहं समस्त दूषणापहं ।
नमामि इंदिरापतिं सुखाकरं सतां गतिं
भजे सशक्ति सानुजं शचीपति प्रियानुजं ।।3।।

Manoja vairi vanditam Ajādi deva sevitam
Vis̒uddha bodha vigraham samasta dūṣanͅāpaham ।
Namāmi Indirāpatim sukhākaram satām gatim
Bhaje saS̒akti sānujam S̒acīpati priyānujam ।।3।।

Worshipped by foe of Kamdev/god of sensuality (Shiva burned Manoj/Kamdev to ashes), served by Brahma and other gods Pure wisdom personified, abolisher of all vices I bow to the Lord of Indira (Devi Lakshmi), mine of delight, the only refuge of saints I pray to you, with Shakti (Devi Sita) and younger brother (Lakshman), O lovable younger brother (Vaman) of Shachi’s husband (Indra).

त्वदंघ्रि मूल ये नराः भजन्ति हीन मत्सरा
पतंति नो भवार्णवे वितर्क वीचि संकुले ।
विविक्त वासिनः सदा भजंति मुक्तये मुदा
निरस्य इंद्रियादिकं प्रयांति ते गतिं स्वकं।।4।।

Tvadanghri mūla ye narāhͅ bhajanti hīna matsarā
Patanti no bhavārnͅave vitarka v īci sanͅkule ।
Vivikta vāsinahͅ sadā bhajanti muktaye mudā
Nirasya indriyādikam prayānti te gatim svakam ।।4।।

People who are devoid of jealousy, and worship you feet, (they) never fall again in confusing worldly waves of doubt (Devotees) who dwell in seclusion, praying to you happily for liberation, controlling their senses etc find their ultimate refuge (You)

तमेकमद्भुतं प्रभुं निरीहमीश्वरं विभुं
जगद्गुरुं च शाश्वतं तुरीयमेव केवलं ।
भजामि भाव वल्लभं कुयोगिनां सुदुर्लभं
स्वभक्त कल्प पादपं समं सुसेव्यमन्वहं ।।5।।

Tamekamadbhutam prabhum nirīhamīs̒varam vibhum
Jagadgurum ca s̒ās̒vatam turīyameva kevalam ।
Bhajāmi bhāva vallabham kuyoginām sudurlabham
Svabhakta kalpa pādapam samam susevyamanvaham ।।5।।

Lord you are wondrous, effortless, beholder of grandeur. Eternal, Guru of the world, turiya (4 th state of consciousness), the only the one who is won over only through prayers steeped in love, unattainable for calculative practitioner Like the Kalpa-tree (wish-granting tree) for devotees, (you are) equanimous, worthy of constantly being served.

अनूप रूप भूपतिं नतोऽहमुर्विजापतिं
प्रसीद मे नमामि ते पदाब्ज भक्ति देहि मे ।
पठंति ये स्तवं इदं नरादरेण ते पदं
व्रजंति नात्र संशयं त्वदीय भक्ति संयुता ।।6।।

Anūpa rūpa bhūpatim natohamurvijāpatim
Prasīda me namāmi te padābja bhakti dehi me ।
Paṭhanti ye stavam idam narādarenͅa te padam
Vrajanti nātra sams̒ayam tvadīya bhakti samyutā ।।6।।

The unparalleled beauty, lord of the earth, I bow to Urvjija’s (born from earth-Sita) lord. I bow to you, be pleased with me and grant me devotion of your lotus-feet. People who read or listen to this hymn with respect Undoubtedly they gain devotional union.
