Mahavigyan by Sri Sri 108 Mahatma Baikaldas Part-6
How to account for the fourth sky? Tulsidas ji wrote about it when he describes the time when the bow was broken.
Damkeyu damini jimi jab layayu Puni nabh dhanu mandal sam bhayau
It (the bow) gleamed like lightening when He (Ram) took it in His hands Then the bow appeared like a circle in the sky
It is testified that the fourth sky is in the Surya-loka. Where is Surya-loka in the human body? To the best of my knowledge, the Surya-loka in this body is situated between the streams of the Jamuna (between the two eyes). Because Jamuna is the daughter of Surya, this sky was presented to her. This is the Fourth Sky. From these bones of Dadhichi, the thunderbolt was formed. This Sky is Pinaaka (Shiva’s bow made out of Dadhichi’s bones) in which learned people also include nose and eyes.
The fifth sky is Shikha (top knot). Renunciates shave their knot to become like the formless air, but it does not work. The Body comprises of these five elements. Learned will understand this.
This description of the five elements and their five different forms apiece is written in the Bhagwadgita which I have written according to the best of my understanding. The sum and substance of the above discussion is that it is necessary to cultivate discriminatory wisdom from knowledge. The problem today is that people do not develop this discriminatory wisdom and engage only with game of knowledge.
Sixth Assortment
This is the description of the six Vikaras (deviation from the original, or faults) that are applied to the human body. These have been explained in the simplest possible manner. Read them with love and enjoy.
The attributes of the four Vedas have been explained in the fourth assortment. Vishnu transmitted the knowledge of the four Vedas to Brahma who became an instructor of appropriate conduct. This was imbibed from Brahma by Vasishtha and Shankara. Narada preferred mere knowledge and ignored the practical aspects. Sanak, Sanandan, Sanatan, Sanatkumar rejected the practical aspects thinking it to be inferior. Both Narad and Sanatkumar failed to follow knowledge. Vishwamohini attracted Narada. Wisdom is meant for those who follow proper conduct. Sanatkumara also strayed from the right path and became Prahlada, it is written. Who can expound further? This is the supra wisdom. Vasishtha and Shankara utilized this knowledge. Brahma creates this universe, so Shankarji too created something. He created snakes, scorpions, ghost, phantoms etc. The scriptures attest to this proposition as well.
They are parts of Vishnu, hence have not forgotten their father’s work. Brahma created four Vedas for humankind. Shadanan, the son of Shankar created the six Shastras and Vashishtha wrote 18 Puranas. Now, we shall describe the six branches of philosophy related to the six vikaras of the body as has been described in the Srimadbhagavatam: Tulsidas writes in Manas-
Ek pita ke vipul kumara Prithak prithak gun sheel achara
A father has many sons Each has different traits, virtues, conduct.
There are different paths for different persons, even today. The six vikaras are- 1. Shabd (sound) 2. Sparsh (Touch) 3. Roop (form) 4. Ras (taste) 5. Gandh (smell) and 6. Kam (sex).
All of these six have two attributes such as speech has two attributes-good and bad.
Word is an attribute of speech and it is listened to by ears. Both are formless. Whatever emerges and submerges in the formless is called air. Air causes sorrow and pleasure that is unavoidable.
The word that is uttered also has attributes of both good and bad. These are the characteristics of word. This is the function of sound. Its attribute is formless. The formless is that which cannot be caught.
Touch too is both good and bad. The virtuous persons follow the good and reject the bad. Such people do not face sorrow. Both sound and touch may be fatal. However, one who has gained wisdom never faces sorrow, even in dreams.
Many persons use foul language due to tamovritti, and lose their body, mind and wealth for nothing. These miseries are like insects that are burnt in the light. Should they be considered wise? If you look at it, the human body is rare and beautiful. The body would have been worthless without ‘sur’ (means melodious voice; it also means breath).
Bade bhag manus tan pava Sur durlabh sadgranthan gava
It is great fortune to have human body The scriptures sing of its rarity
We can make ourselves humane or devilish with this body. So, humans are much less and devils are common.
