Astrology: Shielding Inaction or Chasing Mirage?

Astrology is something related to astral bodies. Ancient Indian system of astrology is based on Vedic philosophical assumption of inherently harmonious or interrelated world. Each unit (material or psychic) is linked to all other units. Whole world has emerged from same source and is destined to submerge in the same. Through the proper study and insight into one phenomenon, one can achieve useful understanding about any other phenomenon. Much bigger units such as universe or milky ways are difficult to observe, same is true for much smaller units. Therefore, most appropriate units for the astrological observation are different planets. They are easily observable and more effective with reference to earth in comparison to other astral bodies due to less distance from earth. They are big enough to exert a reasonable impact on units residing on earth and have an appropriate size and distance to be properly observed. Obviously, focal point of astrological exercise is human being. So concretely, astrology looks for the destiny of human unit through observing the movements of planets.

Indian system of astrology is very sound in its techniques and philosophy. A traditional Indian astrologer can easily tell about the placement and movement of different astral bodies with amazing accuracy, almost as precise as of a modern astronomer, who has telescope, satellite data etc. under his disposal. This accuracy is combined with the theory of Karma. Results of your previous deeds (karma) make your destiny. Result of your karma may be altered through the karma itself. Thus, destiny is taken as something made by the individual’s own self. Naturally this belief leads to the conclusion that destiny may be changed or modified. Thus, Indian astrology is not confined only to the prediction but it expands its horizon to the correction of previous deeds.

Therefore people knowing the intricacy of Indian system of astrology know this very well that being based on ‘Karma Siddhant’ or theory of action, it neither encourages nor allows to depend on destiny and inaction. On the other hand, giving an idea about one’s future life, it helps one in setting realistic goals for life.

In Sanskrit language, word for astrology is JYOTISH – that is ‘leading towards light’. Jyotish throws light on your previous deeds and their upcoming results. In this way, it warns and motivates you to adopt the proper course of action. Thus, it is a part of ancient spiritual wisdom of India. Through the knowledge of one’s Karma-phal, one can easily lead self towards eternity, towards bliss!
